Social Entrepreneurship – Giving to the Society.

Since September 2015 we are involved in the develoPPP-Program partnered with German government, small Indian farmers, local Indian exporters and Don Limón. The project is based in the 2nd richest region of Indian grape-production. The purpose is to develop Indian farmers access to international markets.
After conducting local research into the basic needs of local producers, it appeared that awareness and knowledge are key elements to their progression. To establish a successful outgrower-system one role is filled in by a local exporting partner in India. The project combines grower and export experience as well as topical knowledge of the food-industry.
On Don Limon’s side the project-team is manned with international trading expertise by Debjit Ghosh. He is native to the same province in India where the impact of the project is also being materialized. He’s available to the growers and also makes frequent visits to the field. In those fields, the harvest of the crop is now starting.

In Cooperation with

Don Limón operates in close partnership with the development organization Sequa, part of Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. Sequa is operating worldwide as development organization. Sequa‘s aim is to sustainably improve the living and working conditions of as many individuals as possible. They understand that you can only achieve this in cooperation with partners at home and abroad.

Activities from Don Limón

After conducting local research into the basic needs of local producers, it appeared that knowledge and awareness is a key element to their progression. Particularly increased knowledge and support in the areas of pre- and post-harvest practices. For the first round in which the project is operational, a volume of 20 export containers from more than 35 different growers is prevised. Next season, this figure is expected to increase to 65 growers and should grow to 135 growers in season Three. The equivalent is more than 100 Containers of grapes for international markets in the third season.

Pre-Harvesting

Within workshops and 1:1 awareness-program we support small farmers to reach international requirements of supermarkets with their plantation process. With our exporting partners and trainers we are in close contact. That ensures us that our activities have sustainable positive effects on the output of fruits when harvesting will start. Due to a network communication farmers are directly connected to our customers worldwide and are self-motivated to improve quality and beside that, they improve their income-situation.

Post-Harvesting

To grade up the plantation-process we are involved in sorting and packing-processes in association with our Indian partners. To deliver best product-quality for supermarket-chains we support the post-harvesting processes. With our trading competencies we offer direct input to recruitment for local experts for required monitoring the supply-chain. Within our personal meetings in India connect farmers and supermarkets.

International-Trading

We bring India direct to our customers. On fairs and personal business meetings we bring Indian-Farmers in contact with our supermarket-partners. Feel what we do. Within our representation-program the stakeholders of valuechain have direct contact. This is our impact to make international fruit business.
